Reading NewProteinBase needs no account or sign-in. We only process what is needed to run the site and handle feedback, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Browser-local data
Saved items, read marks, the light/dark setting, recent searches (up to 10 terms), changelog read state and feedback drafts are stored in your own browser. List position, scroll position and expanded state exist only in the current tab's session storage and are cleared when the tab closes. None of this is sent to the server. It disappears if you clear browser data and does not sync across devices. Saved items, read marks and the theme setting can be exported and imported from the Saved page.
2. Feedback
What you submit on the feedback page, the optional email address, the page address at submission time and any screenshot you attach are stored on the server to handle your request. If an internal notification channel is configured, feedback is forwarded there and screenshots are not kept on the server after upload. To limit abuse, the server stores an irreversible identifier derived from network address and browser family, used for rate limiting and blocking abusive sources.
3. Server and network logs
The application does not run visitor analytics. The server, reverse proxy or CDN in front of it may keep access logs (such as IP address, time, page and browser information) under their own configuration.
4. Third-party content
The site shows summaries of and links to third-party reporting. Following an original link takes you to that publisher's site, which is governed by its own privacy policy.
